Position Summary:
The Construction Total Station Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting total station surveying equipment to ensure accurate layout, measurement, and alignment on construction projects. This role supports the project team by providing precise data for site layout, grading, and structural positioning, ensuring work is completed to design specifications.

This role supports the project team by providing precise data for site layout, grading, and structural positioning, ensuring work is completed to design specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate total station surveying equipment to perform site layouts, stakeouts, and measurements for construction activities.
- Interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine layout requirements.
- Accurately record field data and transfer measurements to project managers, engineers, or CAD technicians.
- Calibrate and maintain surveying instruments to ensure accuracy.
- Collaborate with field crews, engineers, and supervisors to ensure correct positioning and alignment of structures.
- Assist in creating as-built documentation to verify completed work.
- Troubleshoot technical issues with total station equipment and coordinate repairs when necessary.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment.
- Keep detailed logs of work performed and measurements collected.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in surveying, civil engineering, or construction technology preferred.
- 2+ years of experience operating total station surveying equipment in a construction environment (preferred).
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, grading plans, and staking requirements.
- Proficiency with surveying software and data collection tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and lift surveying equipment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with GPS survey systems and CAD software.
- Knowledge of civil construction practices and site work.
- Familiarity with robotic total stations and related equipment.
Work Environment:
This position requires fieldwork in varying weather conditions, as well as occasional office tasks for data processing and reporting.

Compensation: $24.00 - $35.00 per hour
